Logistics and Container Planner

Seatrade, one of Netherlands’ largest and oldest shipping companies with over 72 years of experience, specializes in transporting frozen and chilled cargo like fish, meat, citrus fruits, avocados, and bananas. We operate a global fleet, with ship management based in Groningen and commercial activities in Breda. Our cargo is mainly transported in refrigerated containers, maintained at depots worldwide.

What you will do

As Container Logistics Planner you will be responsible for overseeing the entire container logistics process in all its facets. Your key responsibilities will include:

• • Plan and coordinate the loading and unloading of containers on our ships, ensuring stability, safety compliance (e.g., IMDG), and ship to shore communication regarding loading and unloading plans.
• • Manage the flow of empty containers
• • Keep our software systems up to date with accurate logistics data.
• • Continuously improve processes to ensure maximum efficiency and results.
• • Support the Global Container Supervisor with reporting and special projects.

What are we looking for

We are seeking a motivated, proactive, and analytical team player who is eager to make a meaningful impact. Ideally, you bring:

• • A bachelor’s degree (HBO), preferably in Logistics or Maritime Studies.
• • Experience in the maritime industry, logistics, or a similar role – or seafaring experience (deck).
• • Excellent written and spoken English.
• • Strong computer skills, especially with software tools, Excel, and Outlook.
• • A sharp analytical mind with strong organizational and commercial skills.
• • Strong communication and interpersonal skills – you know how to motivate and influence.
• • A hands-on, solution-oriented approach with a drive to dig deep and solve root causes.
• • Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• • An “ownership” mindset — you take responsibility and deliver results.
• • Living near Breda and holding an EU passport or Dutch work permit.
